Alexi & Kevin’s Jewish Wedding in Vancouver [Photo & Video]

Ryan has known Alexi since they were quite young, being that one of Ryan’s closest friends is practically a family member. So when we got the inquiry to capture Alexi and Kevin’s Wedding out in Vancouver, we were thrilled to step up to the plate! This was our first Jewish wedding we had photographed (and filmed) and I’ll be honest – I’d love to do more! The flow of the day and traditions were so much fun and nothing beats any wedding with awesome dancing!

With it being a February wedding, we were lucky to have a crisp but beautifully sunny day and with an oddly snowy February/March we’ve had this year, we were able to get some of that beautiful white natural reflector as part of the day as well. Starting with some getting ready at the Beth Isreal Synagogue followed by an intimate first look at the same location. We then popped over to Fets Whisky Bar which was a fun and unique way to do some portraits while including something they both enjoy – particularly Kevin. We think for your wedding day you need to always include something that you would normally share together, to embed it into this symbolic day of forever togetherness so this choice was perfect for the duo. Then of course with the gorgeous day we had, we continued the rest of the portraits outdoors, with exception of family photos inside the stunning space that the Synagogue offers.

So many interesting and amazing parts to this day that I learned about from pre-ceremony traditions and ceremonies in themselves, to post ceremony traditions of the well known stomping on a glass and the Hora! An epic formation of dance moves leading up to hoisting key family members and the bride and groom on chairs for quite the show! This wedding was such a great official start to the season, while I had done a few weddings already this was our first full day and I’m stoked to share what we saw that day. Especially since we implemented a bunch of new techniques!
